A change for the better

It's no secret that Boulderites are hyper aware of the provenance of their food. We're surrounded by great farms and the ability to connect to our food in a personal way, often times putting a face to the name of the farm where our food comes from.

National Chip and Dip Day

Drunken Bean Dim

If that's what our founding fathers wanted to celebrate then why not huh?

We'll have some new items on special for you to try...

Trashy Texas Queso - local? No. Sustainable? Uh uh. Trash and delicious? Si.

Frijoles Borrachos (Drunken Bean Dip) - chorizo and onion sauteed up with a little tequila and tecate and some refried beans. Topped with a little bit of queso, cilantro and tomato.

$8 Lunch Special

Starting today we are offering an $8 lunch special everyday. Everyday the specials change to keep you on your toes.

Our reasons are two-fold. First we want to provide a valuable lunch option. Second, we want people to try some things they don't normally try.

Hanger Steak Tacos for $8? Tacos Al Pastor and a Mexican Coke for $8? Tinga Sopes and a Jarrito for only $8?!

Unheard of.

Pricing

To our customers:

There's no beating around the bush on this one. We have raised our prices. Some just a few pennies, some a little more, a few things not at all, but overall about a 5-10% increase in prices.

After almost a year in business we took a hard look at our costs versus our pricing and decided an adjustment was in order.

It is never an easy decision to raise prices but we hope that you can understand and continue to support Pica's.

Boulder Weekly Best Of

Dear Pica's customers:

Boulder Weekly's Best of 2011 voting comes to a close on Thursday, March 31. Because it's our first year in business, we're not on the ballot so we're asking for your help to make sure that we're on the ballot next year.

We know we have a lot of fans out there - you've expressed it to us directly and you've reinforced it by returning week after week and we appreciate your loyalty.

We don't have any allusions of winning any Best Of awards our first year in business, but we would like to be on that ballot next year.

Queso Fundido

Being from Texas I grew up on a fairly steady diet of Ro-Tel and Velveeta, especially around Super Bowl time.

And while I occasionally still succumb to this guilty pleasure, my taste buds have grown up and I prefer a more refined version of "queso".

That's right, if you feel the itch to tie one on we have our Pica's margarita mix - you supply the booze.

Here's what people have to say about Pica's Catering:

Pica’s did an amazing job catering our event. The food was fantastic and staff very personable and friendly. We would absolutely hire them for our next event.

Pica’s was able to work within our budget, offer a variety of options, and taking care of all the details from table arrangements to staffing, to make our event flawless, not to mention our guests raved about the food and fresh margs!

-Warren Miller Entertainment (catered party of 100 for Warren Miller premier of the film Wintervention for advertisers and staff)

Having Picas cater our rehearsal dinner was one of the highlights of our wedding.  Pica’s worked with us to plan a menu with a wide variety of food that appealed to adults and kids, vegetarians and meat lovers, and was flexible to accommodate a changing numbers of guests. Everyone had a favorite item, but all commented on how wonderful and fresh the food tasted.  We'll definitely use Picas again for catering.
